FOR THOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY SIGNED UP YOU WILL BE ATTENDING AN OUTSTANDING WORK SHOP! FOR THOSE WHO ARE ON THE FENCE, PLEASE READ BELOW. WE HOPE YOU WILL DECIDE TO ATTEND. I HAVE EXTENDED THE LATE REGISTRATION TO SEPTEMBER 6TH.COUNTERMEASURE WORKSHOP By
Gordon H. Barland, Ph.D.
PARK CITY HAMPTON INN
(435) 645-0900
September 13 (8 am to 5 pm)
September 14 (8 am to 3 pm)
This workshop teaches you how to identify, verify, and deal with countermeasures. Its orientation is practical, not theoretical. You will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience at creating countermeasures yourself, training a partner to use them, and detecting them when your partner is using them. Bring your polygraph with you, and see for yourself how easy (or how hard) it is to make realistic looking reactions, using both physical and mental countermeasures. If you have a movement sensor, bring it, and see how to position it to maximize its effectiveness. The workshop includes step by step analysis of charts with verified countermeasures from criminal and screening cases.
The fee includes a loose-leaf notebook containing Internet countermeasure advice and many slides of Dr. Barland’s material. These materials are also available for upload to registrant’s computers so that you’ll have it when you need it.
If you think that you already know how to detect countermeasures, you’re in for an unpleasant surprise. You are almost certainly being beaten more often than you realize. Countermeasures used to be very easy to detect. Now, they are a real challenge! The most common reaction of participants is “Oh, my God! I’ve got to go back and take a look at my old cases. I’ve seen those patterns before.”
The workshop is at the Park City Hampton Inn, 6609 Land Mark, which is immediately off the Park City exit of I-80. Telephone (435) 645-0900 for reservations ($79 per night, UPA discount rate). www.hampton-inn.com/hi/parkcity
